“I was thinking how lucky I am that my son receives so much personal attention. Then I realized that he isn't the only one! Every child at RJA gets that kind of special attention. That's one of the things that sets this school apart.”

social responsibility

At RJA, students grapple daily with their ability to better the world. Their history lessons are an opportunity to shape the future. Their science lessons call on them to safeguard the earth’s ecosystems. Even their analysis of popular fiction includes discussion about choosing to uphold goodness and fight hatred.

Students consistently translate those lessons into action. The proof is in the passion-filled meetings of the student-driven Disaster Relief Kids (link) mitzvah club…the enthusiasm with which Girl Scouts donate their cookie earnings to feed the hungry…relationships built when students visit older adults or refugees…and the way students willingly forfeit Chanukah and birthday gifts to help others.

Tikkun olam (repair of the world) is part of our daily vocabulary. Students understand their obligation as citizens of the world, and know from experience that social action is easy, it’s possible and it’s Jewish.
